Weapons are a part of the Martial Arts and we practice with some of them.
We use the weapons as a bonus program that’s added to our regular curriculum. We want our students to sample these extras, but don’t feel weapons should be the major focus.
Actually, if a student puts too much time into weapons training, their regular curriculum skills could suffer. Therefore, a student may not be prepared for the belt test or a realistic self-defense situation. A student will be prepared in most self-defense situations with the standard kicking, punching, and grappling skills.
If anyone mishandles or misuses a weapon against someone, they could get themselves into serious trouble. Always be careful with weapons.
