Aikido

Aikido

tmk300a_25Aikido means “the soft way”. Morihei Ueshiba founded this style in Tokyo in 1942. This art uses the opponent’s weight and momentum against themselves. The defender continues the opponent’s energy until they’re off balance and redirects force onto joints to cause a take down without striking. Joint locks and arm thrusts are used to pin or hold the opponent once they are on the ground. This style is a descendant of Ju-Jitsu and is the style seen in Steven Segal movies.
Terry Middleton’s Karate program contains a blend of many different styles of Japanese, Chinese and Korean Martial Arts.
